Your Scan:
As early as 6 weeks from your last period, a pregnancy sac can be visualized. Although at this stage, the sac is small, the baby's heartbeat can be clearly observed. Depending on the gestational age, an internal scan may be required to see all the necessary detail. TV scan (Internal Scan) is a Gold Standard procedure to diagnose in early pregnancy and is a safe procedure. The procedure will be discussed prior to the scan and verbal consent will be taken prior to the scan.
At 9-12 weeks you can distinguish small limbs, head and body precisely.

All ultrasound scanning and blood tests require close contact between you and the practitioner, so we’ve implemented strict Social Distancing and Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) policies for increased protection in our clinic.
If you or anyone in your household has shown symptoms of COVID-19 in the last 14 days (or if you have come into contact with anybody who has), please do not attend your appointment. Please let us know and we will reschedule your appointment for you. In line with UK government guidance, you and your guest are required to wear a mask or face covering when attending appointments at our clinic. Upon entering the clinic you will be requested to sanitize your hands with antibacterial gel.
Before you scan:
We recommend arriving about 10 minutes before your appointment to allow time for you to park your car and then make yourself comfortable in the clinic.
Upon arrival, you will be asked to complete and sign our Consent Form to help us check that the details we hold are correct and that you understand our terms and also to ensure thAt we have obtained your consent for us to perform the scan. You can bring up to 4 guests to your appointment, so extended family, friends and kids are more than welcome to meet your unborn baby!
You will need to have a full bladder for the abdominal scan, we suggest you drink 500ML of clear fluids about an hour before your appointment and not go to the toilet before the scan. If an internal scan is required, the procedure will be explained to you in full before we ask for your consent, and you will be able to empty your bladder.
Please bring your pregnancy notes with you it will be helpful in case our qualified Sonographers need to refer to them at any stage during your early reassurance scan.

There is plenty of parking on-site and our premises are accessible for wheelchair users.
