Our Growth Scan provides reassurance by assessing your baby's growth, estimated fetal weight, wellbeing, position, placenta location and fluid levels.
This scan is designed to support and reassure you during the later stages of your pregnancy.
What the scan includes
- Heartbeat confirmation (see & hear baby's heartbeat)
- Measurements with estimated fetal weight
- Checking baby's position
- Placenta location assessment
- Fluid assessment around baby
- Wellbeing scan report
- 2D ultrasound prints
- Optional brief 4D preview
- Scan time – 5-7 minutes
Digital videos and images are optional add-ons.
Your scan explained
The primary purpose of the scan is to assess fetal growth and estimated fetal weight using ultrasound between 26–40 weeks gestation.
Our sonographer measures:
- Head circumference
- Abdominal circumference
- Femur length
The scan also checks:
- Baby's presentation and position
- Placenta location
- Amniotic fluid levels
This scan does not replace your NHS diagnostic scans.

Important Information
Before your scan
- Bring Pregnancy Notes
Please bring your pregnancy notes with you in case our sonographers need to refer to them during the scan.
- Two Week Gap Recommended
A minimum two-week gap between scans is recommended.
- Arrive Early
We recommend arriving about 10 minutes before your visit to allow time for parking and check-in.
- Comfortable Clothing
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing for your scan visit.
