frequently asked questions

How does SneakPeek work?

Although each person’s blood has her own DNA, a pregnant woman’s blood also carries the DNA of her unborn child. SneakPeek scans a little sample of your blood for male chromosomes. In the event that male chromosomes are discovered, the infant is male. The baby is a girl if none are discovered. At six weeks into pregnancy, SneakPeek is 99.9% correct.

What is the SneakPeek process?

At SneakPeek Labs, cell-free foetal DNA is analysed using a procedure known as non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT). A tiny sample of your blood is used to separate the plasma from the whole blood using a centrifuge. The extracted cell-free foetal DNA (cffDNA) is then examined for the presence of Y chromosomes, which are unique to men. You can be confident in your results because the SneakPeek test is sensitive enough to identify even a single Y chromosome.

I’ve previously had a boy. Will that skew my results?

According to clinical research, foetal DNA leaves the mother’s bloodstream a few hours to two days after delivery.

I’m having twins. Can SneakPeek determine fetal sex for each one?

If male DNA is discovered in identical twins, then both newborns are male. The two kids are female if no male DNA is detected. Finding male DNA for fraternal twins—or more—will verify that at least one of the babies is a boy, but it won’t be able to determine whether the other is a girl or boy.

Do hormone disorders such as PCOS affect my results?

Because SneakPeek is a DNA test, results are unaffected by hormones.

Do blood thinners affect my results?

SneakPeek is a very sensitive and precise test that exclusively tests for the existence of Y chromosomes. There is no evidence that blood thinners or any other medication affect SneakPeek gender results.

Is this test safe?

A non-invasive prenatal test (NIPT) that is safe for mother and child is called SneakPeek Clinical.

How quickly can I get my results?

After your blood sample, you will receive your results in 3–4 business days. On the day that SneakPeek receives your sample, you may expect your result email between 4 and 8 p.m. Pacific Time.

Are results guaranteed?

The most accurate early gender test available is called SneakPeek Clinical. You’ll get a complete refund if the gender of your child does not match the results of your test.

How is my privacy protected?

We know your DNA information is personal. To protect your privacy:

  1. SneakPeek simply checks the gender of the infant. Information about illness statuses or other health-related topics are not collected.
  2. Your DNA sample is disposed of by a qualified chemical management organisation in accordance with federal regulations following the test.
